Trainers Choice selected as exclusive distributor of Axia3 (R)

Written by Admin Wednesday, January 4, 2012

New Digestive Segment Emerges in Antacid Category: Axia3(R) ProDigestive(R) Antacid Hits Store Shelves Across Canada

BARRIE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 1, 2011) - Axia3(R) ProDigestive(R) Antacid delivers fast-acting relief from occasional heartburn, with a proprietary blend of potent digestive enzymes to help promote healthy digestion. It is ideal for people who suffer from occasional heartburn due to diet, stress, exercise and other causes.

Axia3(R) ProDigestive(R) Antacid is very different from traditional antacids and acid reducing drugs because it is a natural health product formulated with an exclusive blend of potent ProDigestive(R) enzymes that work with your body's digestive system. The body naturally produces digestive enzymes such as a-amylase and pepsin that are activated by gastric acid, in order to let the body digest food and nutrients. Traditional antacids neutralize heartburn by lowering the level of acid in the stomach, which can render digestive enzymes ineffective.

"Heartburn and other digestive discomforts such as indigestion, sour stomach and bloating afflict millions of people each year," says Axia3(R) founder and CEO, Ryan Doheny. "In fact, recent studies have indicated that up to 24per cent of Canadians experience heartburn daily."

The stomach releases gastric acid to naturally activate digestive enzymes that are needed to break down food and nutrients during digestion. A muscle known as the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) keeps the gastric acid and active enzymes secured in the stomach. If the LES is relaxed or weakened, gastric acid can seep back into the esophagus, causing irritation that we know as heartburn.

Trainers Choice of Barrie, ON has been selected as the exclusive distributor for Canada. "Heartburn affects all aspects of daily life. I was simply amazed with how well this product worked for my heartburn and those who had tried it. Our company philosophy is to get people back to life, work and sport, which makes Axia3(R) a great match for our company," says Rick Schaly President of Trainers Choice. "We are already servicing most major retailers across Canada with our premium braces, and I know that these retailers can use a product like Axia3(R)."

Available at participating retailers across Canada including Rexall, Familiprix, Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, Pharmasave, Federated Co-op and London Drugs from about $3.99, Axia3(R) ProDigestive(R) Antacid comes in rolls of 12 chewable tablets and is available in natural Mint, Orange and Berry Flavours.

Barrie sports medicine physician off to the Paralympics

Written by Admin Friday, December 16, 2011

Barrie, ON, March, March 4, 2010 - Sports medicine physician Dr. Shannon Bauman, of Barrie, Ontario, will be going for Triple Gold when she cares for athletes at the Paralympic games in Vancouver March 12 to the 21.

With Canada winning double gold in men's and women's hockey, Dr. Bauman is excited to see if they can make it three gold medals. Dr. Bauman, who is the physician for Sledge Hockey, will be caring for the world's top Sledge Hockey players representing eight countries in competition at the Thunderbird arena in Vancouver.

Dr. Bauman is a primary care sports medicine physician at Barrie Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre in Barrie, Ontario. She will be overseeing the Paralympic Sledge Hockey Trauma Room, providing on-ice acute care, and assessing and managing injuries. Dr. Bauman is affiliated with Barrie's Trainer's Choice, which is the official supplier of orthopaedic braces and supports to Hockey Canada.

"I often recommend Trainer's Choice braces to athletes for various injuries," says Dr. Bauman. "They are well made and I trust they will exceed the expectations of our hockey players in Vancouver."

Sledge hockey is a sport that was designed to allow participants who have a physical disability to play the game of ice hockey. Ice sledge hockey is also known as sled hockey in the United States.

Sledge hockey is the Paralympics' equivalent of ice hockey. It is played using two blade sledges, which allow the puck to pass underneath the sledge. They are propelled by sticks with a spike in one end and a blade in the other end for shooting.

The sport is played by athletes with a physical disability in the lower half of their body. There is no classification system as such, but the minimum disability ruling applies. For example, the athlete must have a permanent disability that prevents him from skating on his feet. There is no current competition for women.

"Dr. Bauman will bring a lot of knowledge to the physio team at the Paralympics. Her confidence in Trainer's Choice products speaks to the quality we bring to the table," says Rick Schaly, President of Trainer's Choice, Inc.

Rock Selects Trainer's Choice as Official Supplier

Written by Admin Friday, December 16, 2011

January 20, 2010 - Trainer's Choice, a leading supplier of orthopaedic braces and supports in Canada, is pleased to announce the renewal of its Official Supplier status with Hockey Canada, the sole governing body for amateur hockey in Canada following the merger in July 1994 of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association and Hockey Canada.

The Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club announced it has selected Trainer's Choice once again as its official supplier of sports medicine products, as well as a preferred partner for its therapy and rehabilitation program.

Trainer's Choice is the largest sports medicine product supplier in Canada, providing the team with training room materials, medical supplies and a wide range of support products such as wrist and knee braces. When required, local Toronto Rock athletes also utilize the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre located in Barrie, Ontario and is a sister company of Trainer's Choice for ongoing athletic and physiotherapy. "The athletic therapy experts at Trainer's Choice play an integral role in providing guidance on how to rehabilitate an injury, as well as which sports medicine product is suited for a specific injury," says Dave Murray, Toronto Rock's Head Athletic Therapist. "It's great to have one reliable source for sports medicine advice and products." Murray says that lacrosse, like hockey, is a fast-paced, high impact sport in which injuries can run the gamut from concussions to severe knee injuries and ankle sprains.

Murray works with team physicians when surgery is required, designing and overseeing the treatment and rehabilitation of players once an injury has been assessed. During the NLL season, the Toronto Rock players practice once a week with games on most weekends from January to May. Many of the athletes also hold down full-time jobs, so when an injury occurs it not only keeps a player out of the line-up, but also has implications at home, school and at work.

"Trainer's Choice is thrilled that the Rock will be relying on our expertise and products," says Rick Schaly, President of Trainer's Choice. "We design each of our products based on the needs of top-level athletes, but they're also for people from every walk of life. Because regardless of your profession, when you're injured you need to recover as quickly and fully as possible and get on with life, work as well as sport."

About Trainer's Choice

Trainer's Choice is the official sports medicine supplier to hundreds of Canada's athletes including the Toronto Argonauts football club, the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association, NHL Alumni as well as Hockey Canada's international men and women's hockey teams. Trainers and team doctors rely on the company's complete line of products to help athletes "stay in the game." Trainer's Choice branded products are available at most pharmacies across Canada including Shoppers Drug Mart Loblaw, PharmaSave, Metro, and Sobeys.
